Mommy .... where's home? No idea Toto but shut-up before anyone hears you talking!

What a bugger - half the fun of coming to Singapore was to be able to wind-up all my CanadiaLand friends by being at least 40 C warmer than they were, but after mild winter and the photos from Puerto Viarta, I suspect everyone is more tanned than we are thus destroying my planned line of humour for the next 3 months.

Left Toronto and after a brief stop in London and flying visits to Spain and Newcastle we were off again so we made it as planned to Singapore.
Needed a replacement bike for Edson after he gave up the Argon  to Adam so we scoured the bike shops (all 2 of them) and found a great 4yr old second-hand flyer at a good price so Edson was all fixed up again and as you can see from the picture thoroughly excited by the prospect of starting to train.

We missed the registration for the 120km round the island ride which was a bugger but in hindsight might not have been a bad thing.
Meanwhile ......... over in Spain .....

...... Back in Singalong  ... we take a first ride here to Sentosa Island which is a bit of a rough ride traffic wise but rewarded with a beautiful beach. 30km done without a problem.

We sign up for the OCBC (some bank) Sponsored cycling event which like everything else in Singalong is not cheap @ £150 for both of us to register. We get the privilege of riding down a four lane highway at 5:30am on a Sunday morning. It was a bit surreal getting up and peddling from the hotel as the drunken kids were leaving the nightclubs but despite all the reservations of being up at 4:30 it was a good ride.
Edson did very well completing the 59 km although there was a point when the route looped that he thought about bailing but he continued and finished very strongly.

We finished  8th from last (of those that finished) as Edson stopped to film almost every kilometre and rider it was a good morning out. I think actually Edson enjoyed it - I know I did.

I was going have a good moan about Singalongese drivers but I think that could be a blog all on its own next time where I will no doubt share some of my un-pc insights into the Singalong mind and culture as displayed by the absolute ignorance of drivers here in not giving a shit about bicycles on the road ...... in fact it seems to be a sport to give you as little room as possible whilst blaring the horn behind you.

And "What about the reference to home in the title" I hear you ask and "why haven't you been hitting me up for donations?" - well - we haven't been as fortunate as we should have been and haven't won the deal I was here to help win. So I am now back in the UK (for a while I hope)and the fundraising starts now ....
